| By : Bruce MacGregor |
Brothers Martin and Thomas Carter are credited by the author with being pioneers in the California narrow gauge railroad movement, which arose to challenge the transportation monopoly held by the Central Pacific and Southern Pacific Railroads. The author, a senior manager at Hewlett-Packard discusses their marketing and other business strategies, both with their own business and later as managers with one of the other six short lines challenging the larger railroads.
