This book will provide a visual display of the history of the N&W Railroad, which is based in Roanoke, VA. The book will span the years from 1881 to 1982 and will emphasize both rail hardware (locomotives, passenger cars, depots, etc.), and rail employees and passengers (shop workers, blacksmiths, conducters, presidents, etc.). The reader will travel the rail lines across bridges, through coal country, to small town depots and massive harbors, and look into the shops and foundries where engines were mastered, wheels shaped, and passenger cars upholstered and equipped.
