Boston's Red Line: Bridging the Charles from Alewife to Braintree (Images of America: New Jersey)
By : Frank Cheney
The book will cover the Red Line, one of the major arms of Boston's subway system, which was the first subway system in the United States. The line extends from Arlington, northwest of the city, through Cambridge--beneath Harvard University and MIT--and the center of Boston, and ends south of the city in Braintree, serving the surrounding suburbs. The pictures, from the author's private collection, are excellent, and include subway/tunnel scenes, contstruction scenes, passengers scenes, and shots of the neighborhoods around the line.
