One hundred-twenty high-quality color photographs illustrate the history of the New Haven Railroad's passenger operations in the classic streamline era. The story begins in 1934 with the railroad's first lightweight car order and continues through the railroad's experimentation with ultra-lightweight trains in the mid '50s and the troubled '60s. The color photography illustrates paint schemes and stations. Charts, maps, brochures, and timetables are reproduced, and 50 black-and-white photos show the cars being built.
